Change Has Come to Cheyenne County

Good Morning Everyone,
This morning we had a meeting with our new Cheyenne County Assessor and the independent assessor from Stanard in Lincoln, who is helping in the equalization of the downtown for values.
Our assessor reached out to us after Eric posted some questions on the Homestead deduction here on this page. That is our job, we ask questions. All our questions were answered this morning and we received handouts and information on this deduction that we will be posting this coming week.

I must say we were also extremely impressed with the Stanard Independent Assessor and are very confident we will be receiving a new and fair assessment.

At the conclusion of the meeting, we left with a feeling that we can move our business here and that we are getting a fair and impartial look at the values which we haven't received in the last 4 years.
We explained our goals and set a path of understanding and working together to make them happen.
We have 2 court cases against the county this summer which were filed the last couple of years. We are going to work together and see if it could be settled before going to court which will cost everyone in this county and we are going to try to avoid that. It will now be up to the County Attorney and the Commissioners. All this should have been done 2 years ago, but there was no willingness to listen to our concerns.
The way it has always been done has been broken. Our new assessor Jordan Hajek has promised to have an open door to listen to everyone and this morning she took that even further by inviting us to come in and talk. She has promised to keep an open door for everyone in this county as they begin to review some of the protests that have been filed.

Change has come. This is the first step. We are going to work together. Get out information and make sure that everyone is treated on a level playing field.

More coming soon!!!!
